You’re excited to get your home ready to show to prospective buyers but you’re a bit overwhelmed by the long list of things to do that your realtor gave you. If you don’t think you can do every single thing that the realtor wants you to do, you can just concentrate on the more important ones. You’ve probably heard of “curb appeal” and that should tell you that how your house exterior looks is important.
For your home interior, you can concentrate on getting your kitchen and living area all nice and clean. Of course, everything inside and outside your house is important, but there are some parts of the house that are more important than the others when it comes to home showing.
Maintain clean walkways on your property. Make it a habit to sweep dried leaves, branches, and other debris off your walkways daily. Sweep away dirt as well. There’s no need to replace your walkways, but you need to make sure that they are looking good. Just spray them with water to clean them or if there are noticeable stains, scrub them off with a stiff broom. Try lining your walkways with potted flowers to brighten them up a little.
Your garage floor and driveway need to be in good condition, without any obvious stains or damage. Cracks on the floor or driveway should be take care of right away. Your local home improvement store would have ready-mix concrete that you can use to fill in the cracks. This is extremely easy and quick to do. If there are oil stains on your driveway and garage floor, scrub them clean. Remove the oil stains with an oil stain remover, available at many home improvement stores.
Stove ventilation fans that are greasy and dirty can be a turn off. With a good degreaser cleaner, you can get rid of the old, smelly grease on the fans and around the stove. The kitchen is one of the more important rooms. If you have a family looking at your home, you need to make sure your kitchen creates a good impression on them. As a matter fact, most buyers will head straight to the kitchen and inspect it before they take a look at the other areas of the house. If you have the budget, you can do many things to improve the kitchen. It’s most important, however, that it is clean and smelling nice at all times.
Home showing shouldn’t be a stressful time for you. The key is organization, and if you approach the process methodically, you will do well. You also need to stay within the budget you’ve set when you decided to sell your house. Even the small details matter in the process so you shouldn’t overlook these.
